Fun.

That's what I'm talking about and I have news to interest you.

I had hella fun playing the game last Friday. I was running around with the Nameless One and a couple (or three) of his buddies and causing all sorts of trouble. Some kind programming soul (Thanks Rob) let me in on how to test out spells and combat in the game. Boy, did they let the cat out of the bag.

Two words, ice knife. Seriously folks; the first time you see an ice knife hit a baddie, watch said baddie go down in a heap and then you gasp as his cronies have a morale break and head for the nearest exit! I haven't giggled and cracked up that much in a while. Then you just whip open the action menu, hit 'Magic Missile' (Fig. 1) and target some goon in the back as he high tails it off the screen. WHOOSH and BOOM. He goes down too.

Magic Missile Madness!

I know we have a great story and I know that you will love the game for that, but we haven't forgotten you'll be fighting some epic battles. So please, I would like to you all to stand up and give a round of applause to Ken Lee for his achievements way above and beyond the call of Line Producer. Ken has been committed from the get-go to making the game's battle system truly noteworthy. He ensures quality in four easy to follow steps:

a) Walk up to programmer or artist working on spell/combat effect.

b) Pantomime spell or combat effect; complete with inhuman vocalizations of crashes, explosions and energy sounds.

c) Finish with loud laughter and ask stunned listener if they 'agree' to his 'suggestion'.

d) Repeat as necessary until desired result is achieved.

It's guys like Ken Lee that make me want to sprint up the stairs to Interplay every single morning. Their excitement is contagious.
