11/1/99 - The Feast of All Saints
Hello again dear readers,

As I write this, one can only feel the cautious uplifting feeling that we're close, and that we're almost done. One thing I can say right now is that the music ROCKS!!! "Epic" is the word at hand here. ^_^ To finish up my update from last time, here's Part 2 of the "Unsung Heroes" of Torment. So many times things are taken for granted, and with the Development team, many faces (99.5% of the team) are swept underneath the rug [please see my last update for the skinny on the great dev team that put Torment together]. Yet there's more! Here's some more very important people:

Audio is one area that is so often times overlooked. It complements a game, and most of the time you hardly notice it. But when it's missing, it's completely obvious. And one of the biggest blessings we've had is Interplay's kick-ass internal Audio department. Leading the pack is the indefatigable Charles Deenen - the master of sound. Then there's Craig D., mix-master, who makes sure the sound is balanced and all good. Gloria keeps everyone groovy, making sure we're all on the same wave-length, and Chris Borders on the VO tip makes sure we don't have a badly dubbed kung-fu flick for a game. We have the amazing Ann EFX S. who's put together the most awesome group of monster sfx and Dave F. who helps out with the great spell sfx. Mark Morgan ROCKS! And Richard Band adds some great tracks. Stephen Miller helps out on the cutting. There are many other guys in Audio that I'm missing, and I must apologize, as even I don't know everyone who's helping out that end.

For Video services, the incomparable Dan Williams keeps us in check, with Dave C. and Bill S. helping out. Without these guys, many of our special promos and trailers wouldn't have happened, or even our Audio - as without them, our sound designers would be kind of in the dark on many things.

From there, we go onto Marketing and PR, with so many great people helping out, like Greg "Big Tuna" Peterson, and Greg B., along with Lisa "Bagel Princess" B.

And just as important, if not perhaps, the KEY to it all, is our Quality Assurance dept., with some great testers who help make sure this game is balanced and done right, bug-free (oh yeah, baby! More on this next time). Leading the pack is Damien "Mr. Tattoo" E., coordinating the whole bunch, making sure we get it all straightened out. Then we have Rob "I have to have a Dreamcast" G., and his bro, Kris G., who hammers the critical. Donnie C. and Billy I. continue with crucial areas, as does John "Krispy Kreme" P. We got "Mr. CD Key Man" Dave S., who better make sure it's all good before the shiny discs go out, and his key group: There's Dany "Sancho" M. who never ceases to humor us, and get in good testing while at it, Larry "The Eviscerator" S., Greg D. who tirelessly tests his areas, and Gary T. Add to that Rafael L. and you get another key team to our game's success. We continue onto our 2 other Criticals, Erik "Stealth" H. and Henry "Magic-man" L. and add Matt G. and we got lift-off. The list continues with the OT-tip, some of who were past core members, like Eric F. and Scot H. and Harold K. There's Ed H. and Jason D. as well. Of course, in command over in mad-house central is Jeremy B., along with Mikey "Ghibli" M., and Monica V.

As with all our other departments the list goes on and on with so many important people who work interdependently to make sure it all gets going, and I can only hope to meet all of them someday and thank them personally. I know I must've missed a few people, and I apologize to all of you in advance! And of course, thanks to Feargus U. who lends the strength and wisdom to help ship this game ASAP.

Folks, you will not find a more dedicated group of people wanting to make the best game possible. I hope this will be a game that you will all enjoy.

Torment Always,

Ken Lee
